ECDO, Forever Harlem Early Childhood Educational Center is in need of a Coordinator of Family Services/Family Worker. Our programs are entrenched in the Harlem communities. As we consider education the first and most important step towards a successful, self-sufficient future, it is important for us to engage the families of all children enrolled at our centers. We provide community-based services and we must have information available to provide families and children with needed resources and information. Family services provides an important bridge to services for children and families. This position requires an individual that has their ears to the pulse of the Harlem community and has previously demonstrated experience working in early childhood education.
A degree in Human Services or related field is required along with prior experience advocating for families'
Familiarity with managing and establishing community resources is required.
Bilingual Spanish/English is a plus along with having the ability to complete all standard administrative and support tasks including but not limited knowledge of managing social media platforms, computerized data management and proficient use of Microsoft Office.
Security clearance is required.
Recruiting/overseeing the eligibility and enrollment of children in the program
Advocating for parents; conducting home visits; offering referral services and providing community resources; promoting parental involvement
Developing/planning activities for children that will support their optimal growth and enhance relationships with parents/guardians; organizing/facilitating parent-child socialization groups and parent workshops
Coordinating medical, dental and other community-based services offering comprehensive support to children and families
Maintaining case records and completing all documentation and reports.
Assist the early learn center with administrative tasks, which includes and will not be limited to program planning, daily operations and program compliance for early childhood educational center.
Must be prepared to complete all security clearances from DOI ( Department of Investigation) and SCR( State Central Registry), medical and immunization.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Must be completely knowledgeable of Microsoft Office and technologically savvy.
Associates, Bachelor’s degree and or college credit in a field related to Social, Human, or Family Services with a minimum of one (1) year administrative support experience in social services or in a related field.
Bi-lingual skills a plus.
Valid community First Aid and CPR card (or acquired within one year of employment.
Participate in staff meetings, conferences, training sessions and workshops as assigned. Attend Policy Council meetings and other meetings as requested.
Demonstrate familiarity with employment policies, performance standards, work plan and objectives of the Agency.
Maintain congenial and respectful relations with staff, children, families and community.
Keep current and accurate records, and a well-kept filing system
Maintain confidentiality in regards to staff and family information.
Tutors/Mentors with expertise and or interest in 9th through 12th grade Math, Science, English, Social Studies, and Language subjects in conjunction with, and interest in, introducing literacy and writing skills initiatives specific to the needs of the Millennial & I-Generation community. Tutors must have a strong and diverse academic background. A focus and or specialty in Math or Science is encouraged.
In our Forever Harlem High School Youth Program, ECDO, Inc. will partner to provide services to youth in grades 9 through 12. Program services will include academic enrichment via instruction embedded in the visual and expressive arts, collaborative and group work, community service projects, project based learning activities and tutoring. Services will augment rather than replicate school-day learning.
Tutors/Mentors will be needed Monday, Wednesday and Thursdays from 3:30 pm to 6:00 pm when After-School is in session until June 2020. Tutoring/group and homework help sessions will take place at the Harlem Village Academy High School located at 35 W. 124th St.
Tutors/Mentors will be under the direct supervision of ECDO, Forever Harlem staff and all sessions will be conducted in a group setting of between 10-15 students. A desire to elicit a passion for reading, writing and history in young people.
